Alternate Color Designs for Rivers

To experiment with colors for this blanket, see the the Supplemental Content (access code in the pattern) to download a coloring page to experiment with your own color ideas.

We chose a bold blue and white color theme for this sample. The Becket line has many additional options for the background (dark) color such as Aubergine (dark purple), Stormy Seas (blue-gray), Dark Teal, Deep Woods (very dark green), and Garnet (rich red).

Another option is reverse the light and dark colors by using Natural (off-white) for the background color, and different colored snowflakes including: Green Apple, Winter Sky, Denim Heather, Lilac Blossom and Peacock.

INSPIRATION

Snowflakes are the inspiration for this blanket. I grew up in Michigan and loved to play in the snow. My mom says that I would be like a frozen popsicle by the time she got me back inside.

In nature snowflakes appear in 6-sided hexagons, and would not form into 4 or 8 sided shapes. But we have to knit what we can knit, so I’m taking some artistic license with this design.
