Update on Safe at Home blanket KAL, Prizes, Crochet, German and French versions

I have been so gratified by the warm reception that my Safe at Home blanket pattern has received and by all the compliments. It has been a lot of fun for me to run the KALs on Facebook and Ravelry and get so know many new knitters from around the globe. And we now have German and French language versions of the pattern and a Tunisian crochet version that will be published very soon. I will run a separate Crochet-A-Long (CAL) for the crochet version. Sign up for my newsletter if you want to be notified when the crochet pattern is released and the CAL starts.

I want to also thank all the yarn and yarn accessory companies that have provided prizes for the KAL and show you what they have donated. All the prizes are either things I also own and love, or things I would love to own. To be eligible for a prize, you must have purchased a Knit or Crochet version of the Safe at Home blanket pattern from Ravelry, LoveCrafts or Etsy, and on Ravelry, have linked your project (with photos) to the pattern. We will have a drawing at the half-way point (around May 20) and at the end of the KAL, in late June.

Namaste Maker’s Shoulder Bag

I love this bag, and if I had one, I would dump my purse and use this bag as both purse and knitting bag. It comes in a lot of different colors (not just the ones pictured here) and Jimmy Bean’s is providing the little Snap In mesh bag too!

There yarn is soft and easy to work with. Hats off to you, Malabrigo, and thank you for these prizes!

Knitter’s Pride Karbonz Deluxe Interchangeable Circular Knitting Needle Set

Comes with 3 different length cords and storage case.

I own four sets of Knitter’s Pride interchangeable circulars, and Karbonz is the one I use the most. They are very easy to attach and detach from the cords, and they have the smoothest transition between the cords and needles and are very well made. They come with a bunch of little tools for tightening your needles so that the connection doesn’t loosen during knitting.

Jaggerspun Yarn Shawl Kit

This includes enough yarn to make a medium sized shawl in their “Green Line” yarn, and a Ravelry shawl pattern of your choice (either crochet or knitted). Jaggerspun is a great yarn company in Maine that I wish more people knew about. They supply yarns to the commercial industry and are available to us regular people via a few online stores and LYS on the northeast coast of the US. They have soft and strong wool yarns in fantastic colorways that work well together for the kinds of blanket projects I have been knitting and would be great for fair isle colorwork. They provided yarn support for my upcoming book, Geometric Knit Blankets, and have provided this kit for us.

Knit Picks Townscape Pillow Kit and Chart minder

The Townscape Pillow is one of my designs that was included in the Merry Knitmas book by Knit Picks. The prize includes the pillow pattern and the Mighty Stitch yarn for make the pillow. You need to supply your own pillow form and zipper. Mighty Stitch is a really nice yarn that is a mix of a very soft acrylic fiber and soft wool. The pillow is worked in the round using fair isle technique. Yarn will be in the colorways shown in the photo below.

Also included is a Knit Picks Chart Minder. These are great tools for colorwork. Print out your pattern, attach it to the chart minder with magnets provided, and then move the long magnet ruler up as each row is completed. Very handy!! Thank you to Knit Picks for these prizes!
